Mercedes gifts Matthew James 14 year old disabled boy Bionic arm
  • Kids are way smarter these days and the sooner we accept this truth the more relaxed we can be about the future generation. A 14 year old disabled boy in the UK wrote to F1 Mercedes GP Petronas boss Ross Brawn and asked him to grant him $57,370 (£35,000) for a top range artificial arm and in return said he would allow the company to sponsor the hand by putting the Mercedes logo on it. The boss was quite touched and agreed to help raise money to help the boy whose determination has clawed the auto world hard. The company asked prosthetics specialists Touch Bionics to create a customised i-LIMB Pulse which will help Matthew grip a pen to draw pictures and write, tie his shoe laces and catch a ball with ease. He was born without his left hand and had been using an artificial hand which he explained featured a ‘clamp-like’ mechanism.
